Helloooo, I’m Laura.
I’ve been um’ing and ah’ing for a while now about creating a space to share my experience of starting running, and for all my cooking creations, and health-related ideas to be spilled out upon. I’ve had blogs before, and me being me, wanted to change everything constantly, so this time round I’m here to stay! So here we are, Fuelled by Plants.
Food is life, and life is food. I am the definition of a food lover when in doubt, eat some good food. I used to be a professional chef, back in the day, but now I have been embarking on the journey in academia studying for a degree in Food and Nutrition for the past 3 years (1 more year left of undergraduate study, woohoo) with the aspiration of working in Public Health. Also, I became vegan at the beginning of 2017, and I have to say it has been a revelation (I will share with you why in a blog post…).
One of my bestestestest friends is a keen runner and managed to persuade me and my other bestestestest friend to sign up for a 10K and a half marathon (wish us luck!). So, with that in mind, I thought why not create a space to spill my thoughts out on whilst training. I’ve never enjoyed running, nor ever thought that I would even sign up for a 10K or half marathon. But here we are! Maybe, I could encourage you to take up running with me 🙂
All things health-related fascinates me, as much as I may whinge and moan about some of my degree content (such as all things cells – it baffles my brain so much!) it all helps build up my knowledge of how our bodies work, why we eat how we eat, and live how we live.
This is a space to share my journey into running, food creations, and maybe a few health promotion posts too… who knows. Because, after all – if you eat well, exercise well then you’ll live well and you’ll be happier, right? I can vouch for that!
